Delhi Public School, GBN Celebrates Unity in Diversity

Celebrating multifarious cultures and festivals symbolizes the unity and integrity in a community, which is something DPS, GBN takes pride in. To commemorate the occasion of Eid –ul-Fitr, the students of class V organized a Special Assembly on July 21, 2015 enlightening the students about the importance and spirit of the festival. The event was attended by Mr. S M Khan, Director General, Registrar Newspapers for India (RNI) as the Chief Guest and Mr. Kabeer Siddiqui was present as the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Rewa Nayyar, Member, School Managing Committee, joined the Principal Mrs. Indira Kohli in celebrating the uniqueness of multicultural India. Parent Reps were also present.

The function began with a soothing song followed by Qawwali, Skit and Dance which reaffirmed our faith in the Almighty. The Chief Guest, Mr. S M Khan explained that people are required to donate a part of their earnings too while fasting, hence the holy month of fasting which precedes Eid ul Fitr is called the ‘Ramadan’. School Principal, Mrs. Indira Kohli addressed the Assembly accentuating the fact that most religions perpetuate similar tenets and wished “Eid Mubarak” to all. The event was attended by parents of the participants.
